55 billion+ land/sea animals per year in 👏🏼 JUST 👏🏼 THE 👏🏼 U.S. 👏🏼
55 billion+ animals from land to sea are slaughtered (or die from stress related disease/illness, by catch, etc) EVERY SINGLE YEAR for the American “food” supply. I want to help you understand the amount of 1 billion. 1 billion minutes = 19,000 years. 1 billion days ago was 2.7 million years ago. Just 1 billion of anything is unfathomable, let alone more than 55 billion. In 1997, Cornell found that the estimate of land animals in farming was 7 billion. They also found that we fed those 7 billion animals, 41 million tons of plant protein to “create” 7 million tons of “food” for humans (7 million tons of dead animals for human consumption). I also need you to understand- those are just numbers for the U.S… every country has their own numbers just like these. And those Cornell numbers are nearing 30 years old.

Animal farming is, to me, the single most irresponsible and unethical thing that we do as humans. The scale of breeding, torture, abuse, suffering and murder surmounts anything else that i can think of. Animals are bred and bred and bred into existence SIMPLY to be slaughtered. The sole intention of their life is to die. Of course, horrible things take place between birth and death. But i always think of that INTENTION and what that must do to a being. I think of their sentience and how they FEEL that. I’ve only personally been into chicken factories and a pig “farm”. So the photos you see in this publication will be from those experiences. But please understand that there is no limit to who these industries will exploit. Some include: cows, fish (and other sea animals), goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and so so many more.

Chickens are bred and exploited for their eggs and their flesh. We are manipulated as kids to buy into the idea that chickens lay eggs just because and that they’re healthy for us to eat- that they’re ours to eat. That eggs come from happy hens. All of this is bullshit. A wild chicken would lay a clutch of eggs a year, for the purpose of having offspring. In animal farming- chickens are subjected to antibiotics and artificial lighting as well as breeding practices over the years to ensure they’re laying eggs daily. A hen would lay about 12 eggs in a year if they’d never been altered through these processes. Yet, each hen is laying almost everyday. This includes “backyard hens” because they’ve all been bred at this point to lay this often. This creates major medical issues for them. We’ve had around 30 liberated hens in our care over the years and the most common issues they experience are from cancer. Their reproductive health is completely fucked. Their little bodies lose so much nutrition due to the constant process their little bodies go through to create eggs. We have seen the effects of these industries in the hens we’ve cared for and we’ve sat with many in their final moments which were far too early. Many of them pass away by the age of 5, with the exception of 1 who never lived in animal farming and made it to about 7. Some were only about 3. Chickens should live to be 15. The billions of hens who are not liberated are “spent” after a couple of years when they’re no longer laying as many eggs and are in turn no longer profitable to the egg industry. Those hens are slaughtered. Their flesh is lower grade meat that you’d find at fast food chains. Mind you, we’ve had liberated hens checked out by vets and nearly all of them have cancerous cells active in their bodies. The egg industry also crushes or suffocates chicks that are born boys because they have no use for them. They hatch and are in the same day ground up alive or suffocated in gasses, foams, trash bags, etc. ON DAY 1 OF THEIR LIFE. The conditions of egg farms (and all factory farms) are fucking disgusting. No living being should live in that filth. It’s sick. And not only that but the years they are alive for exploitation, they’re also abused. They have shock wires on their cages so they don’t peck at their eggs and they live in small wire cages on top of each other. No vet care, no love or compassion.

No animal is killed for their flesh after living a long, happy life. We are led to believe that only veal comes from baby animals. But this is completely false. Cows for “beef” are slaughtered at just 18 months while their natural lifespan is 15-20 years. Pigs are slaughtered at 5-6 months and breeding pigs are even slaughtered by ages 3-5 when they’re “spent”. Dairy cows are “spent” and slaughtered by age 5. Chickens for flesh are slaughtered by 5-7 weeks. Rabbits, ducks, goats, geese and turkeys are all slaughtered by 20 weeks old. Lambs are less than 12 months, sometimes only 4 months. THEY’RE ALL BABIES.

Any animal that is exploited for their bodies/by products are killed at some point unless liberated. I’ve seen the suffering of thousands of animals, while only able to liberate maybe 20? My guess would be that well over 99% of farmed animals never know liberation. Never know freedom. There aren’t enough people stepping up to care for them. I know personally, as well as others, would enter these places on a daily to liberate whoever possible if there were safe and caring homes for them to go to.

ANIMALS ARE NOT OUR TO USE, ABUSE, EXPLOIT, OR KILL. We don’t need to eat their bodies or the eggs/dairy from their bodies. There is no excuse in 2024 to not know about all of this and to not be making choices that are plant based. Not only do we not NEED to eat them- we aren’t even healthy if we do. Their treatment, or lack thereof, means that the flesh you so desire is ridden with cancer and other disease. Our bodies are in a constant state of inflammation and disease state when we consume animals. Not to mention the toll this death and suffering takes on our own souls. None of that matters though, as much as the fact that every animal fights for their lives in the face of death and they want to live JUST LIKE YOU DO. Every animal is a sentient being JUST LIKE YOU.
